Hypocrite was initially written as a statement against the haters out there who don't support your art when you're a nobody but then come around asking for a hand out when you get somewhere. The meaning of the song has changed as a statement about the record industry. Yeah, I know. Weird.
Originally this track started out as a negative reaction to people not supporting the band at first but when we get great shows, all of a sudden we're everyone's best friends. However, the meaning has changed a bit as the it's been played live.
lyrics
We came from the wrong side of your town
To bring some of the rock you want and were asking for
But now you want to get into
A show put on the by the Rue
And they said that it has all been done before...
what the hell am I playing for?
So now you want to get in free
And kick soliloqy, haikue, and hyperbole
But now you want to call your friends
To call to say that "Yeah! I got into the show and I'm okay!"
Don't throw a fit
You're just a hypocrite
Don't throw a fit
You're just a hypocrite
So now I'm gonna find your house and light some matches
Burn everything and then runaway
Then when I get out of jail
I'll find a way to copy CDs and not ever have to pay
Don't throw a fit
You're just a hypocrite
Don't throw a fit
You're just a hypocrite
Don't throw a fit
You're just a hypocrite
Don't throw a fit
You're just a hypocrite
Rollin' down the street in my 6-4
Jockin' the bitches, slappin' the hoes
Went to the spot to get the scoop
Knuckleheads out there cld shootin' some hoop
We're rollin' down the street smokin' indo
Sippin' on gin and juice (laid back)
With my mind on my money and money on my mind
Rollin' down the street smokin' indo
Sippin' on gin and juice (laid back)
With my mind on my money and money on my mind

They are at best laid-back and nonsensical at times but incorporate many genres of hip-hop. Some of their songs are more serious and poke fun at the cliches found in ever day life. Courageous Rue
